Hi. Got baby 10wks old and DD1 who 4yrs old. Had mirena coil fitted 5days ago since then slowly felt my mood going down. Today been snappy tearful fed up. Mentioned it to DH he said you been in shit mood last few days, since had coil fitted. I didn't enjoy first babe much got quite down but this preg and babe I've been really enjoying, chilled out and positive enjoying mat leave until last few days. Scared its coil and now im stuck with it. Was horrid having it put in, not sure I can face a repeat getting it out. In past I tried pill but stopped as it made me go odd, but at 39 there are ltd options. Any advice? Will it settle down are my hormones just adjustin? Got check at end of month with nurse booked in.

I felt awful with Mirena, plus had permanent bleeding; hated it and got it taken out after 6 months. Maybe give it a while to settle down?

I have now had Essure sterilisation to get away from any hormonal contraception: not for me. Hope you feel better soon

There are lots of threads on here about Mirena, if you search.

I had one and hated it. Put on weight, had bad skin and felt permanently pre-menstrual.

If you didn't get on with the pill, the chances are you won't get on with the Mirena either. I had one put in 12 weeks after my 2nd child was born and it contributed to me getting very ill with anxiety and depression. It definitely isn't for everyone.

I felt ropey for the first 3-4 weeks after having my Mirena fitted, with constant bleeding, PMT and bloating.

Since then though it's been fab - don't know I've got it. No bleeding at all, no PMT and lost 5 pounds.

Thanks for advice. Had gd talk with DH about how I feel last night gonna give it a month to settle down if it doesn't I will get it out. I do not like being out of control of my emotions, at least with out it I knew when my grumpy monthlies were and planned my life around them to min stress levels at home &work. This coil scares me now, wish I hadn't had it.
