What should dd wear to her first ballet lesson?

She's been given a leotard and ballet skirt but I don't know what she should wear on her feet - are gym shoes or slippers ok for her first one? I don't want to buy her ballet slippers until I know she'll like it.

I asked DD who works at her ballet school - plimsoles are ideal as they are soft and bend, trainers less good as they're not soflexible. Or Doodles-style shoes.

For ballet if she hasn't got ballet shoes I would say bare feet. Plimsoles are nowhere near flexible enough. If dd ever forgets her ballet shoes she goes barefoot.

Plimsoles are an OK substitute for jazz shoes for jazz/musical theatre classes but not really ballet.

I would definitely say bare feet until you're ready to get some ballet shoes.
