Dn is 7 and a very talented piano player. Unfortunately, his dad has been made redundant, so they may have to cancel his piano lessons for a while, at least until they are not on benefits anymore. Is anybody aware of bursaries they could apply for? Manythanks.

Some LA's have funding for music provision, worth checking out their website

Define very talented. If the child was genuinely amazing and very, very keen, as a teacher I would generally try to find some way to stop the lessons being canceled - if dad was handy for instance he could fix some things around the house for me, or do some gardening or something. I had one student whose husband got sacked and he came around and did a terms fees worth of jobs (at market rates) and I kept teaching her for that term.

There are probably tax implications in the UK, there were in NZ - but neither the teacher or the parent should lose out.
