Has anyone tried a leaders are readers course for their child? I am looking at a learn to read course rather than 4+ or 11+ exams.

The courses run in London only I think although it may have been franchised so be relevant to MNers elsewhere in the country?

If you have tried it please do let me know what you think.

Many thanks

Have heard of it and was considering summer school course for my dts but it clashes with a prior-booked day camp - and you had to do the whole two weeks which I felt could be a bit much - and have to say one teacher I asked just tutted and didn't seem to think too much of it anyway.

Reading course is fabulous - well structured, very good results - needs daily practise so be prepared. DD finished course aged 4y with a reading age of 6+ - and that's before she's even started in reception!

have you got a link to it? I have never heard of it.

Hi Lisa, I tutor the 7+ class of Leaders are Readers at the Winchmore Hill branch and cannot recommend it enough. Our award-winning Reading Programme would be perfect for what you are looking for. It is based on using the Phonics method of teahing, which has been adopted by schools all over the UK due to its proven effectiveness. Hope this helps :)

Hi
This is a little late in the day. I have sent my son there to learn to read. It did the job and he excelled at school and learnt all the sounds including complicated ones. The only thing is, it is quite costly. If you can afford it I strongly recommend it. Because of the cost he stopped going once he completed the reading programme. but I am going to re-enrol him again in one of their other programmes.
