Where to get a cheap leotard?

DD (6) has just discovered gymnastics and is loving it.

I can foresee demands for the right kit. But am drawing a blank looking for leotards in normal kids clothes shops.

So where do you go for a basic gymnastics leotard, without spending £30 on something with shiny bits all over it?!

national schoolwear shops do plain ones that are cheaper than 'real' ones

We used to by DD's from the gymnastic club, they were about £15, but they were in the club colour of purple.

I second John Lewis - I got DD a leotard and leggings for £17 in matt black - the leotards are sold in chest sizes and the leggings in waist sizes (in inches) and the quality seems ok to me!

Most local dance shops stock a varied range of leotards, including fancy gymnastics leotards, but also plain ones.Check this one out for instance www.blushdance.co.uk, they have leotards starting from £10! May have some cheaper but didn't look right through the site

we get gym and dance stuff from dance gear direct - both for my dancing school and local gym club
also Move dancewear.

PS - it may be worth asking around to see if any other mums want to get stuff, so you can divide the postage costs between you?

Our club has a second-hand rail where all the gymnasts sell their old leotards.

Usually the place to bag a bargain.

Failing that, have you tried ebay?

I also forgot to add I have used the one I mentioned too, blushdance.I have actually been in the shop in person as they are not just a website like some.They are in my local town centre and very friendly.If you ring them you get through to the shop as I have heard staff on the telephone.My children don't do gymnastics but dance an awful lot!

We're lucky in the UK to have some of the best makers of gymnastics leotards, but each manufacturer's style and sizing is quite different. Therefore if you go to Dancemania Dancewear you will be able to compare leotards from the best makers around including Milano, The Zone, A Star Leotards and Motionwear.
