Baby grand piano on upper ground / 1st floor?

Has anyone here done this? Would this be structurally safe in a Victorian House? Reception is on Upper Ground or 1st Floor with Kitchen in lower ground / basement. It is a heavy baby grand piano and circa 1927 with 6 legs. Would be a shame to sell it as DD9 plays.

Why would it not be safe? How much does it weigh? We have a half grand that weighs around 300kg in a second floor apartment. Never crossed my mind it might be a problem safety wise (the problem was getting it there!).

It's always been on our ground floor but as we have moved and its now an upper ground / 1st floor, I have questioned this. Perhaps its just my new house move anxiety around things.

It’s absolutely fine! They don’t make upper floors flimsier! We’ve had pianos on much high floors, a friend has one on the 11th floor!

The only thing you need to be mindful of are the logistics. If it won’t fit up the stairs or in a lift, then you might need to take a window out.

It's our first time in a Victorian house. The survey has come back fine but with the usual pointers about being aware of damp in timber etc. I know about pianos in new build / mansion flats, but Victorian? Im really sorry if this is a stupid question

Honestly it’s fine. If you couldn’t have a piano on an upper floor in a Victorian house nobody in London would have one! It’s pretty much all Edwardian and Victorian properties here.

The main issue is getting it there - make sure you have movers who know what they are doing with pianos.
I believe one removal company said "never again" after moving my parents' piano into a first floor flat...

Depending on the size and layout of the property, and the value of the piano, it may be worth getting specialist piano movers. And you'll need to let the piano 'rest' after it's installed before tuning.
