Best UK coding courses for a child interested in game design

My son is interested in learning how to code and design games/things in games but I’ve never been overly techy and I’m really not sure where to start. Can anyone recommend a coding course to start him off or where I am best looking? UK based. Thanks

My son has done three years with Software Academy online, they offer quite a few different courses and worth a look.

How old is he?

How old is he. Does he have any coding skills already, like Python?

Is he 6 or 16?

Many boys teenagers now want to do this as a job the problem is you have to do the right degree and then you wont get a job as everyone wants to do the same thing,

Our local library runs a free 'Code Club' on Saturday mornings, kids learn python and use raspberry pi's that sort of thing.

Ok a subscription to Tynker is a good place to start

This looks interesting and not as expensive as software academy… but can’t see anywhere what exactly you get for the monthly price - is it just access as much as you want in a month and go at your own pace or are you restricted to their pacing/only access a certain amount per month?

No it’s not restricted. My 11 year old has been learning python through it this summer and really enjoyed it. Can do as much or as little as you like.
