Dance mums - Is 26 months too young for a ballet and tap show?

Ahhh my little one is 26 months and has been attending a ballet and tap class since beginning of Feb and she really enjoys it. They’re doing a show which she’ll be in 2 dances in the first act and can be collected at the interval but as it’s getting closer I’m so nervous for her and worried whether she’s too young the teacher thinks she’ll be fine. She is one of the youngest so I am worried 🥺
it is at a venue on a stage too 🥶

It’s quite ambitious! I wouldn’t worry too much though it’s probably just a little aww how cute they look show and that’ll be it. As long as she’s happy I’d go with the flow.

My DD did ballet & tap. The older girls normally “helped” the younger dancers complete their routines during the end of year show. It was always super cute to see the little ones perform (usually with a prop like a teddy).

They will be like a burst balloon afterwards but it's a nice thing to do and builds confidence. The little ones usually just skip around, get dazed by the lights and everyone thinks they're cute. It's not really a dance. As they get older, it's expected that they are following the music and doing the proper steps.

If the teacher says okay, then fine. They won't be asked to do a lot though, and half of them won't know what's going on or which way to face anyway.😁

How much are the tickets, and will you need to pay for a costume?

We do it with kids that young. They are well looked after back stage, leave in the interval and absolutely adore it! My own daughter was even younger when she did her first!
