Hi everyone.

This thread isn’t for me personally but my girlfriend. She is a gymnastics coach and she is looking to expand and potentially start her own business.
I can’t really find anything on line to help answer my question.
I just wanted to know if anyone has started their own after school club who would be willing to give some advice.
Things like the costs, using school equipment if necessary and anything that’s needed.
She currently works full time as a coach anyway so she has all of the requirements to work with children.
I don’t know too much about gymnastics but I do know how to run a business.

I really want to help her out so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

thank you.
Jake.

I would imagine insurances and things like that would be pricey.

Renting the equipment?
Maintenance and servicing of.any equipment?

Staff wages for others

Most schools won't let you use their equipment, it's too much of a risk for them.

She'd need insurance, safeguarding policies and the associated safeguarding lead training. Other policies too, like complaints, privacy, etc.

She'd need to register the club with the governing body and meet all of their requirements.

The DBS she currently has would need renewed through her own business (as far as I know I'm in Scotland so a slightly different system).

Insurance, hire of the school hall or classroom if she wanted to use their premises.

I presume she'd want to do a different school each day of the week as you wouldn't get enough sign up for using their premises same school every day!
