Are there any studies that prove individual sports are better for boys?

My sister is convinced that individual sports are better for boys development and team sports are better for girls. She has enrolled her 2 sons in tennis and daughter in netball. She says there are lots of scientific studies on the topic but I can't seem to find any. Has anyone else heard of this? If anyone has links to studies I'd love to read them.

no. And even if there were that wouldn’t mean it was better for specific children. I’d suggest letting the kids give both a go and seeing what they gravitate to. That’s more likely to lead to happy and successful outcomes.

Mixed sports are better for both so if she really cares that's what she would do.

I wonder where she got the idea?

I've heard that team sports are excellent for kids, If they're drawn to them and are good. She should follow her dcs lead.
If they're happy doing individual sports, then keep going.
If they hate it then it's not good for them.

Your sister should really be encouraging them to explore a range of options, and let them decide for themselves which activity they dislike the least enjoy.

Is she going to decide which musical instrument she wants each of them to play?
Confused

Can't you ask your sister for links to whatever she's been reading?

As pp say, depends on the individual person.
Not all kids are good at team games, they're mostly ball sports. 'Individual' sports can still involve cooperation if they belong to a club.
