Rugby - can you recommend a mouthguard?

DS needs a mouthguard for rugby and after a couple of attempts I still haven't found one that he doesn't find ridiculously uncomfortable. Anyone have any recommendations?

Get a moulded one done. Ring around your local dentists, the costs vary hugely.

My son has always used Opro gum shields. Someone comes to the rugby club and fits them at the start of each season. It's not cheap but it is worth the money.

A few years ago, our dentist charged £70 to fit a mouthguard. She was able to make minor adjustments to it after fitting and at 6 month check-ups.

School gets OPRO in to run fitting sessions over the summer.

Thanks for replies - school/club arranging fitting would be very useful.

Local dentist is charging £200 for custom fitting which is more than I'd like to pay but I'll have a call round and see if that's standard.

We used Funkygums in Carlisle (as they're fairly local). They'll send out the kit to take the impression, then make it and send it back. It was about £60 and has done DD for over a year so far.
