What exactly does it contain in relation to commitment & expense?

Not me but a good friend- absolutely massive cost (travel, accommodation) and commitment but he would do it all again for his DS.

Ohh! I was hoping that wouldn't be the case, there's a club 15km from us here that provides the equipment. DS really wants to give it a try😭

Dd has recently started kayaking. We have a river near by and the local club provide all equipment (except footwear). So far it's relatively low cost at £7 for two hours, but the club is more recreational. I think we are lucky due to where we live as it's a 15 minute drive.

We have chosen to buy her a wetsuit, approx £20 in mountain warehouse sale. I'm not sure how it will fair in the winter. However the club also run sessions in the local leisure centre these are more expensive than on the river sessions.

DS was a kayaker- started with Scouts and Explorers, carried on at Uni. Explorers was basically their subscriptions and then they asked for donations on top. I think we gave them about £25 for a each 8 week session- about 10-12 years ago. There was a leader who was an instructor and they river kayaked. We bought a wet suit as well, which he still has, but when he started at Uni and was doing more adventurous waterways ( I really don't want to know!) he bought a Cagoule and helmet.
