Hi! I am a qualified Secondary Art Teacher currently on maternity leave. I am looking to start an afterschool Art Club in local Villages once my Maternity ends.

I have had tons of interest from local villages so really excited about this. However, I am stuck as to how much to charge! I have tried to look around locally but it seems companies like to hide their charges.

The club would run for an hour after school with all materials included. Let me know what you think PLEASE!

(The costs I am looking at is £40 for hall hire, materials and planning time)

Maybe £70 for an 8 - 10 week course.

In London so might be different but after school art clubs between about £10 and £14 an hour

We pay £5 for something similar here no drink or snack included.

How many children would be included in each session?

DD’s school has an after school art club and we pay termly but it works out to £10 per session.
(private school in London, in case that’s relevant)

Lovely idea.

Don't forget to factor in insurance (which you will need)

Definitely get people to pay termly, not weekly, and don't be persuaded to offer discounts for missed weeks, siblings etc

For adults the going rate is £25-35 per hour in the craft I teach, doubt you would be able to charge more than £15.

I think it all depends work art what materials they are using. If it’s just paper and poster paint or random crap glued to paper etc it is one thing maybe £5. However if they are making really nice things to bring home especially if things they can give to grandparents etc and using things like clay and just better quality materials so meaning the things they bring home are much more impressive then happy to pay a lot more up to maybe £10-£15.

I was just looking at this one today. It will give you some idea about pricing https://www.art-k.co.uk/
