Every year I chaperone back stage at DDs shows (musical theatre) and every time when I get there I think "oh yeah, it would really help if I brought XYZ" but then I always forget again by the next year! So I am hoping some Mumsnetters might give me some top tips to jog my memory...

Ibuprofen or paracetamol - for yourself!! Wear plain black from head to toe. If you happen to be in the wings during the performance at any time, you don't want bright white Nike flashes on your trainers or a wristwatch with a luminous dial. 😂

Loads of hair pins and bands, and a few spare hair nets if you have them, spritz hairspray (not the aerosol sort as they can set off fire alarms and asthma attacks). Tissues, nail file, hairbrush, comb, wet wipes, sanpro, spare make-up or tights, bottled water. Sewing kit and safety pins. Scissors, sellotape, paper, blu-tack.

God, this brings back some memories 😎

Oh this is so helpful, thank you! Quite a few things I will now remember rather than getting there and wishing I had them!

Back up charger for phone plus a variety of charging cables

Remember to put your phone on silent during performances though.

I chaperone a lot and it varies depending on the sort of show and age. For musical theatre I don't take as many hair related things as I do for dance shows, and most of those sort of things my daughter has in her bag so I don't double up.

I always take uno, colouring sheets related to the performance (depending on children's age - find them on the internet and print and (if it's a small group of children and lots of waiting) some basic craft (normally when it's a predominantly adult show with just a few children).

I wear a bum bag with my phone in plus tissues (after a child had a nosebleed in the wings!) and my own paracetamol.

Air freshener for the boys changing row.
I have given up my licence now, but I most did mic chaperone work, so I would persuade all the girls to wear dance shorts under their costume so there is something substantial to clip the mic pack too.
