Is cheerleading worth it?

I'm in two minds, the idea seems really cringey but its very popular and seems like the in thing

'Worth it' in what sense? My DD (8) does cheer. No make up. No competitions. No uniforms. No batons or pom poms. It's a weekly class in a dance studio, just like if she was doing tap/acro/ballet/jazz dancing. A show twice a year where all the different classes from the studio do one song each in front of parents. It's just another style of dance/gymnastics.

Why is it cringey?
