What to wear for tennis!

Ok. So I'm returning to the courts after a 20 yr break.

I am considerably fatter than I was when I used to play properly and feeling quite nervous about getting on court. My daughter is now playing and I need to get back doing it so she has someone to hit with.

Obviously none of my old stuff even fits anymore, but regardless, it looks so old fashioned!

I'm not thin enough to wear tight leggings (I don't think)

What are women wearing these days? I don't want to stand out like a sore thumb. I"m a size 14.

Also, can anyone recommend a decent racket and decent tennis trainers?

You are thin enough to wear tight leggings - wear those ones that only just cover your knee. And wear a tshirt (made of sports fabric) that is fairly roomy so that it will cover something like the top half of your bum.
Oh and go for black for the bottoms, much more forgiving.

oh that's a good idea didn't think of those cropped ones.

Yes definitely black! I am quite big as I'm only short 5.2 (weigh 12 stone)

It was daughter's coach who encouraged me - I said I was too big/too old etc to play and he said, well why don't you start to play and you'll then lose weight. Made too much sense to argue!

Just feeling very very self conscious. Lots of very slim women down at this tennis club.

I wear M&S straight legged joggers and a sports t-shirt, I'm too old for little skirts Grin And I wear tennis gloves and a gilet in winter now so that my body stays warm but my arms can move, I get a men's gilet so there's room in the pockets for balls

If you are short, you will find it easier to get a tshirt that gives good length for coverage of midsection and bum.

And if you have played before, you will have enough skills to look fine.

These rackets are quite nice, my teens have them.

I was quite decent but I have a feeling that playing after a 20 yr break might not be as easy! I'm hoping I can just remember how to hit the ball!!

Oh yes those rackets look great thank you.
