National Saturday club is introducing a new Film and Media subject strand for 13 - 16 year olds in 2021 to join the already highly successful Art clubs.
Banbury and Bicester College is pleased to be offering this new and exciting free course starting on the 2nd of October.
For those of you not familiar with National Saturday Clubs, its the initiative of John and Frances Sorrell who both started their creative journeys with similar art clubs offered by Universities, College's and Art Schools when they were young. Only Uni's, College's and Museum's are able to offer them with the goal of getting youg minds in to play with equipment, and more importantly, in front of specialist teachers not usually available in schools.
At Banbury and Bicester College we've been successfully running a Saturday Art club at the Banbury Campus for nearly 10 years and we were one of the early college's to see the potential of an arts education for local youth, particularly as the arts has been feeling the squeeze at schools in favour of STEM.
This year were one of the few institutions to be offering the Film and Media Club, giving local youth the chance to come in and use our excellent media facilities, this is no running around with a handycam!
As a student on the 16 week course you will be hands on with equipment used by professionals, spending time in our TV studio, recording sound in our dedicated suite as well as learning to edit your videos together on Adobe Premier Pro and applying after effects, not to mention having a masterclass by a top professional, a London trip and the final show with the other clubs at Somerset House. Obviously the London elements are subject to any Covid restrictions or cancellations, but pre-covid our Sat Clubbers have loved this celebration of their work.
On our course the teachers will all be media specialists with production experience, in some cases having been on set on some of the latest productions...no English teachers having a go at media!
