How to make playing county level sport in 2 different sports work

Hi,

I rather suspect my 13 year old daughter has opted to do too much, and we are struggling to work out if we should encourage her to carry on with 2 county level sports or not. The training and matches sometimes clash, and I don’t think the coaches want to compromise at all. She has worked so hard to get to the level she is in both sports, she wants to do both.

Has anyone else been in this situation and what did you do? Muddle on through making compromises? It would be easier if the coaches would flag up dates ahead of time to make our planning easier.

I think she will need to choose if at that level. It's not fair to coaches/ team mates etc. She can come back to the other sport later?

You are absolutely right, of course. She thinks she won’t know until she has played again this year. I think she is going to have to drop something though as needs to play both sports at club level too.

Sit down and figure out what to drop. She can always return to the sport.
