Probably a daft question but what is county sport

Google is not enlightening me, my dd plays her team sport in a youth league for our city and has taken part in county events but is county sport like a national league for the top county players?

County sport is the level above club sport before you move on to regional and then national.
Counties compete against each other in age based leagues.
Some sports ( eg Rugby) have and area/regional level before national others are straight to national.
