I really want to support mu kids' music teachers during the lockdown. What do people here think? Can music lessons via skype be somewhat successful? Specifically talking about guitar and violin.

Thanks

Another lesson done-ds trumpet, which he was really anxious about but worked really well. In fact, almost better than in person, weirdly.

We've had a couple of lessons via Whereby so far and they've gone well. Not perfect - DS was struggling with keeping in time, but when his teacher tried to count with him the time lag meant she was about a beat behind so it really didn't work.

But, one thing I did notice was that both really concentrated, DS much more so than during a normal lesson when he can be a bit over excitable.

We've now tried two singing lessons and I don't know if it was the platform the music hub insists on (musictutors.co.uk) which does seem clunky or the teachers internet connection, but everything dd sang she heard back about half a second later and it kept freezing. Insisted she try a second lesson but not doing a third. Shame. Zoom/Skype works perfectly for the other lessons but teachers for hub not allowed to use it.

I don't think you are allowed to advertise in this way on Mumsnet.
