Anyone's dc auditioned/played in the National Youth Brass Band?

Dd plays a brass instrument and a friend mentioned the NYBB. Looking at their website it sounds great, but I wondered if anyone could give me an idea of the standard of play/experience of dcs who passed the audition (or those who didn't get in)?

In theory dd is the required audition standard (Grade 8, working on ARSM performance diploma, plays in local music service brass band), but I assume it's very oversubscribed, so I am wondering if those who get in are mostly full-time Yehudi Menuhin/Purcell-type school students or those in junior departments of the big name brass bands?

I also see on the NYBB website that it seems to be very much directed at those looking for a career in music. I think dd doesn't really have any idea of a career yet, she just enjoys music as a hobby at the moment, so would she feel out of place for that reason?

Forgot to say, she'd be auditioning for 2021 as we found out about it too late for this year.

I know of a few players across NYBB and NCBB. In both cases, the players are playing at/above grade 8 and happen to attend JDs on Saturdays. I wasn't under the impression that either group was full of young people who intend to be musicians although a fair few are the children of brass players. It's meant to be good fun and they make an excellent sound!

Thanks SE13Mummy, that's reassuring - sounds like dd wouldn't feel out of place auditioning.
