Leotard for my daughter HELP

Hi everyone! I'm new here and wondering if there's a gymnast mum who could help pick the right leotard for my daughter that is just getting started in the world of gymnastics? I need some good company's first. And what are the best materials for leotards in your opinion? also, what would be the reasonable price to pay for a leotard?
Hoping you could help me thank you in advance!

Hello Smile

When you say 'just getting started' is she doing a weekly class, or several hours a week training? If the latter you will need lots of leotards!

My DD and her team mates generally prefer sleeveless ones as they do get hot. Lycra is the usual material. Plain is fine but patterns and sparkles are generally preferred Smile. Many kids like a little pair of shorts to go over the leotard.

Milano, Quattro, All Stars are all good brands to look at. Also have a look at second hand. There's a Facebook group called Buy and Sell Gymnastics Leotards UK. Your gym may also have a shop or group for selling outgrown leotards like ours does.

Does the club have a uniform one?

My dd's is velvet and sparkly! It washes well and dries very easily. She has sleeveless (she's missing her arm) but most have long sleeves.
What she has found is some gym leotards are very high neck, and she doesn't like that. She likes a square neck as it gives lots of space to move. She wears ordinary leggings with it, but some prefer shorts.
They do seem to be relatively expensive, but they last. She's way taller than me, and started when she was 4yo and I think only on her 3rd leotard (it might even be her second!)

They're like, but not the same as the link. Leotard

I was thinking of going with sparkly and pink as she loves that(like any other girl I guess, haha) so something like that, and possibly sleeves as she gets hot during the class.
Don't know about lycra tho? Maybe something more "natural"?
Will check out the brands you've mentioned!

It would be worth enquiring of the club whether they have a club leotard as well. Our old one had one design for the squad groups and another for the recreational gymnasts, although for the rec groups it was not compulsory. It was nice when they did recreational competitions though and looked like a team. We got some of ours from Amazon, Royal Leotards (facebook page) as well as second hand sales.

Now mine trampoline and have chosen to have the club colours again so they feel more like part of the group.

They can get very expensive, it’s a slippery slope! ;) but and sell groups are great, eBay is fantastic for lightly used second hand. Kids grow so fast, someone might buy a pretty leotard for a competition then by the time they need something special again it’s too small. So they can often be picked up very cheaply if you know the sizing. My two girls love taking a few minutes to choose which leotard they’re going to wear to class this week! 12 prefers long sleeves as she’s getting a little body conscious, 6 gets hot even midwinter so goes for sleeveless.

Decathlon do a great range if they don't have a club kit!
