How long do your children spend at scouts, brownies and equivalents each week? How long would you be willing to send them for?

I'm considering starting a girls club akin to Brownie's but slightly different and I'd like to know how long you'd be willing to/how long your daughter would be willing to go per week?

I remember spending an hour per week at Brownie's when I was younger, but I don't know how much things have changed.

Our cub pack (8 to 10 year olds) meet for 1 hr 30 mins each week (plus lots of other trips/camps/weekend activities.

I’d say this is about right, although I’d be happy for my child to stay longer atca club if they were enjoying it. However it does also depend on how old the children would be, and how late the club would finish.

Scouts is an hour and forty five minutes here.

Beavers for us is one hour. But they always overrun, because it’s hard to get properly stuck into doing something in an hour I think. An hour and a half would be perfect I think

I'm a Brownie leader. We meet for 1 & 1/2 hours each week.

Guiding has changed a lot in recent years. If you're thinking of being "similar but different" then I do recommend that you find out what Guiding offers now.

I’m a brownie leader too and our meeting is 1.5 hours as well (that’s the standard). DS’s scouts is also 1.5 hrs.

Meeting length 90minutes (Cubs). Scouts could really do with 2hrs.

Depends a lot on the age.

Beavers (6 - 8) tends to be 75mins
Cubs (8 - 10.5) tends to be 75 - 90 mins
Scouts (8.5 - 14) tends to be 90mins
Explorers (14 - 18) tends t be 90mins

but there are variations - it is up to each section.

Am intrigued as to what "akin to Brownies but a bit different" looks like, and why you would want to stat a group similar to one that already exists ?

For us Cubs was 1.5 hours, Scouts 2.5 hours.
Scouts usually has something on at a weekend at least once a month
