Volunteer opps for 14yr olds?

Ok, this is a slightly odd one. DS would like to help others, perhaps giving free maths tutoring to younger kids who love it but don't get 1-on-1 support, just as an older cousin once helped him in the past. But he's only got summers free. Is there somewhere we could contact, or a program anyone can recommend, ideally local to Cambridge?

Does your local library run a summer reading scheme? Ours wants volunteers from age 14 to talk to the children about the books they've read and give out the stickers etc.

One on one might be difficult with safeguarding but you could try little holiday summer camps to see if anyone wants a volunteer. I'm not thinking the big childcare providers, but people who run after school activities such as sports, crafts, dance, coding who will often do a week or so of activity the summer. See who is advertising small scale holiday clubs locally. Or would scouting be an option?

Your local music service might be another option. Ours runs a couple of summer camps and last time we attended, they had a couple of volunteers giving extra support to the youngest ones.

I think at this age you need to cast the net a bit wider than maths and start off as being an extra pair of hands somewhere. It's all building skills he can put into tutoring later if he wants.
