Hi
I just wondered how much you pay for your children’s accompanists for grade 1/2 exams?
Thank you!

ÂŁ30 or ÂŁ35. That included a practice at school.

They also offered a longer practice arranged one to one out of school. This would be a bit more.

How much are you being charged?

I had to pay ÂŁ40, which included 2 x 5-10minute run-throughs.

brizzledrizzle · 29/12/2018 15:46

We paid the standard lesson fee.

MeltingWax · 29/12/2018 16:32

I paid 80 pounds for one exam and 2 x practice sessions of 30 mins each.

For another session I paid 100 pounds for 3 x 45 min practice sessions & 2 exams back to back.

I felt guilty as I thought by the time the accompanist travels to the exam venue, etc. it doesn't work out much per hour of her time.

Thank you all!
@TheMincePiesAreMine i actually would be doing the accompanying for a couple of my pupils.. I was thinking £20 per exam but wanted to check I wasn’t being too steep! Lessons are charged separately as school bill for those

Ah OK. The fees I mentioned were for "external" accompanists who have never met or played with the child before. When the teacher herself accompanies, we've never been charged extra, and of course all the practice has been in lesson time.

@TheMincePiesAreMine wow so they don’t even charge anything for the exam? That is very lovely! As much as that sounds great I will have to pay for extra childcare so will have to charge something but obviously all practice is in lesson time

Also never been charged when the child’s usual teacher has accompanied.... once had to ask my DDs teacher to accompany my DS, we paid her normal fee for 30 mins for short practise and exam. She wasn’t going to charge but I felt we should pay her something as he is not her pupil

For exams taken at school I think we have had to pay an extra ÂŁ10-20. This is for somebody other than the normal teacher and includes a short run through. I seem to recall paying similar amounts for an accompanist for local music competitions including a run through at the accompanist's house beforehand.

ÂŁ20 for a peri music teacher (lessons in school time) to accompany DD in the exam which was taken away from school (Grade 1).

HerestoyouMrsRobinson · 29/12/2018 23:27

I charge a normal lesson fee, usually

Thank you all that’s very helpful.
