West End Stage Summer School

Has anyone any experience of this? DD, who will be 13 next year is desperate to do it (would have to be residential due to distance). She is in a local musical theatre group and also sings and dances, but it's a lot of money and she's never been away from home apart from with groups of people she already knows (eg Guide camp).

I wondered if anyone's DC's had done it, and what they thought, what you thought as parents?

Dd has never done it but those we know who have said that it’s fun but not necessarily the best that’s available. The ones run by vocational colleges tend to offer more value for money in terms of the actual tuition.

I did wonder if that might be the case, however part of the appeal for DD is staying in central London, going on a West End stage etc. Also she is very shy and I think it could be a big confidence boost for her, she could always try the vocational college ones in subsequent years. Is there any sort of directory of vocational colleges? I'm in the SE but this is all quite outside the scope of my experience. Laine isn't too far away but I don't know of any others.

The vocational colleges tend to be good value DD did Read's summer course £250 for the full time week and she travelled by train from home. Teaching from the directors of the college with only 8 students on the course.

Thanks, we're not too far from Reading so that might be another possibility.

Dd enjoyed Bird Colleges course but I think the minimum age is 14. She didn't enjoy Tring so much.

@Meet0nTheIedge it was really good they performed the 'parks' version of Aladdin on the Friday afternoon each having a main role and then multiple small roles. DD is a season MT performer and loved it, but said it was hard work.
