Traditionally for many years MN has had an audition thread; so here it is as the auditions start in a few days 😀

I hope so too Rupertswife. That sounds amazing, to learn from the more experienced players.

If you get regionals, do you choose which regional you attend, or is it allocated?

TrumpetVoluntary · 29/11/2018 12:31

We gave a first and second preference for regionals. We got allocated our first preference but I know some others got second preference. I think they try to get a reasonable balance of instruments in each regional orchestra. I think you can get in touch and discuss options with them if you are allocated one that doesn’t work for you.

TrumpetVoluntary · 29/11/2018 12:31

And yes, like everyone else we will want hear ASAP!

Luckyfab · 29/11/2018 13:06

Hi I'd like to know the result ASAP but I shouldn't hope so much. DS was a bit down that day and did not have a good start after the summer holiday. Now she seems back on track again but maybe it's too late.

Trumpetboysmum · 29/11/2018 14:57

Decaf I think that’s a really good idea - then I realised that there aren’t many office staff and they are probably all busy with the concert prep at the moment - so I reckon it will be after the 9th same as last year. We could also do with finding out as ds could potentially take part in something very exciting ( or go on a different music course) if he doesn’t get in so the sooner we know the better

Radiodependent · 29/11/2018 15:23

Ds is hoping for regionals and although he really enjoyed Southeasterlies we will probably put our first choice as London juniors if he gets offered anything as the driving to the new SEasterlies venue was exhausting and he has 11+ next year. He really liked the SEasterlies conductor though and learned lots from the older kids.

Owlm · 29/11/2018 23:19

Ah that's good that we can give preferences. I think all of the regionals were a distance but it's only 1 a month so I won't mind the journey.

WindMum · 30/11/2018 05:42

Think the plans for this year are 4 full days instead of 1 a month.

Owlm · 30/11/2018 08:13

Oh right Windmum, I didn't know that. Thanks

Radiodependent · 30/11/2018 09:41

I didn’t know that either but would be easier to fit with travel and school stuff if 4 days so sounds good.

Owlm · 30/11/2018 15:58

4 full days is definitely do-able. I wonder if it will effect friendship forming, with less regular contact...

I think the plans are also for Associate members to have the own sessions/events too, but can’t remember who told me that!

WindMum · 30/11/2018 22:12

I also heard London juniors and seniors will be at a different location, not St Paul’s in Barnes and not Highgate, but I don’t know where!

Decafcoffee · 03/12/2018 05:12

Trumpet The wait is always agony! Shane there’s no alternative to it.
On the plus side it’s december now so we should find out next week .........
Wind that’s interesting.. I hope it’s somewhere with parking Grin although if it’s full days that’s a lot of hanging about

Trumpetboysmum · 03/12/2018 06:50

I don’t mind the hanging about Cambridge is lovely !! But I think it’s going to clash with AYM and so it’s unlikely that ds will be able to attend enough of the full days - he’s always had to miss a couple to be at Snape

Decafcoffee · 04/12/2018 12:01

Just got the update email. Results will be out from the 11th!
7 more days of waiiiiiiting..

Oh no crazy !!

violinmama · 04/12/2018 14:11

My heart skipped a beat too when the email came through... I’m new to all this. Dd auditioned for training (age 7) - although since heard this has been cancelled so chances of a successful outcome for U10 are tiny...

Decafcoffee · 04/12/2018 14:29

Violinmama we’re in the same boat! Ds is also 7 and auditioning for under 10s. His chances are very very slim but he doesn’t know that. He’s so excited to be a part of NCO Smile

violinmama · 04/12/2018 14:34

It’s such a shame training has gone 😕 I wish I’d known before the auditions - I think we’d have left it a year or two...

Trumpetboysmum · 04/12/2018 15:03

Hopefully even if they don’t get under 10s they will get associate places . It’s hard when they are so young as there probably aren’t lots of other orchestras to play in . But as they are so young I guess there will be plenty of opportunities in the future.

Have either of you considered pro corda ? I can’t remember which school year it starts from but might be worth a look

Ds did regionals last year and he absolutely loved it. I also think he would have enjoyed training if he got in. Socially it would have been perfect with lots of 7 and 8 year olds. I wonder how they’ll organise the under 10s... hopefully there’ll be a mix of 8,9 and ten year olds
Trumpet I think procorda starts from age 8 but I could be wrong. I’ve heard great things about the cello course they run so I’ll definitely look into it for ds in the future.
Good luck to all the dcs!!
