top ballet and dance in or near Canterbury

Hello,
We are trying to understand if, moving to King's Canterbury, it will possible to continue Ballet at top level and how many hours per week we can fit in. My daughter needs a certain number of hours during the week and King's is a busy school; they dance but I will be very happy to listen if someone has a direct experience.
Are there any top ballet schools in Canterbury or nearby, but easily reachable after a full day at school?

How far are you prepared to travel, and when you say top level, what level do you actually mean? How old is dd? Has she been studying a particular exam syllabus?

What level is your daughter at and what syllabus is she following?

King’s is a fairly full on boarding school even as a day student. Unless you are prepared to pay for private one on one lessons your daughter might not be able to actually make the timetables lessons due to school commitments.

If she wants to be a dancer and she’s good enough then a vocational school with great academics like Tring Park May be a better.

I work with children in performing arts and I have been surprised how many of them are home educated to actually fit in all the hours they need. Seriously, don’t overcommit to such a full on school followed by several hours a dance in the evenings.

Thank you. My dd is top academic but she loves dancing. Gr. 6 Rad and from top ballet school abroad. She also had scholarship ointment Drama. Will be Wells Cathedral better?

What about Legat at St Bede's?

Schools with large full boarding populations just won’t be good for many hours extra curricular dance and I seriously doubt you will find a school that teaches ballet to such a high level unless you go to a vocational school.

I think The Perse School in Cambridge could be a good fit based on your posts on other boards. Superb day school and your daughter could attend Bodywork classes in the evenings. Bodywork studios has a fabulous reputation.

You could also reasonably commute to London on a Saturday for associate classes at somewhere like Urdang from there.

I think you need to concentrate on a school that ticks most the boxes but perhaps not all.

In fact, their dance programme is in conjunction with Bodywork after looking at their website.

I honestly think this is as close as you are going to get for meeting all your (rather high!) expectations.
