Best places to buy a ballet tutu?

My daughter has started taking part in dance festivals, specifically for junior classical ballet level.

Up until now she has been borrowing a tutu from her ballet school. It is now too small though, so it is time to buy her own.

I have been looking at the IDS site (to order through a local dance wear shop) but at a festival today I saw numerous identical tutus all from the IDS brochure.

Online I can't find many other suppliers. I am thinking that there might be a forum where people sell second hand tutus, as the girls grow out of them so quickly? Or what other recommended websites or shops are worth checking out for slightly different styles?

Any ideas welcome - thanks.

Invisibleunicorn - best way to colour a silk scarf for RAD higher grades is to buy the white silk scarf and dye it yourself by hand. You can then use a colour that tones or matches your higher grades leotard and skirt. Tie-dye / dip dye effects are also permitted, but if I am right the RAD prefer the colour of the scarf to tone with what you are wearing.

@dancinfeet thank you. I had come to the same idea ☺️ It's over priced at £15 though for what is low quality silk. If I make it to India before her exam, I will bring back a load!

Yes, I gather for the exam the idea is to tone and have an overall look of "going together". DD assures me that presentation isn't as heavily emphasised as it is for the professional exams though. She did Intermediate a while ago and said they were stricter.

But hell I want her to look good and as well put together as possible 😆 I was thinking a burgundy leatard, slightly paler chiffon skirt and silk scarf would suit her colouring.

But hey, she's a teenager. She'll end up in all black I imagine...

There’s a lady on Facebook who makes bespoke tutus, look amazing - Sewn by Sara tutus and tunics. I think her site has been suspended whilst she’s on holiday!

No first hand knowledge, just admire her pictures!
