DD1 is dropping out of local strings orchestra, last year wasn't well organised and she got frustrated. She also didn't find selected music inspiring. She didn't make the cut for the higher level orchestra.

We are kicking around an idea at the moment of getting 2-3 music students of similar age together to do some ensemble work with a local teacher. (Girls are Grade 6-8 level)

Inspiring music is a must!!
Can I ask for recommendations of cool music that might work for violin trio?

DD1 would rate the following as cool

  1. anything with big rousing melody
  2. music from films or broadway
  3. well orchestrated pop songs
  4. needs to present a challenge, but not be too difficult.

And does anybody have any tips on online resources for such music?

Hi there,my son is a similar level violin to your dd. He adores film music especially John Williams,(Harry Potter,ET,Indiana Jone,Jaws). He also loves the themes to some the old Western films like The Magnificent Seven which are really rousing. Having said that, you may need a full orchestra? Ds plays in a string ensemble and they recently played Palladio by Karl Jenkins which is very recognisable and rousing.
Have you heard of the CD Pop goes Classical? Classic fm bought it out recently. It's popular pop songs played by an orchestra. No idea if you can get the music for it but that would be good too.

Hope that helps 🤔

Thank you! Those are great suggestions, just the type of music that would appeal to her.
