Good violin audition pieces for grade 5/6 level

I am looking for some good violin audition pieces for my DD.

She wants to audition for the NCO in the autumn, got into regionals last year.

She has taken grade 5 violin this term but won't actually be taking grade 6 for ages, as she hasn't done any theory yet, and is going to be busy with 11 plus exams.

It would be nice to move away from the ABRSM pieces for a while and try something different. She will however still be getting going with the grade 6 scales.

Does anyone have any ideas for any fun, exciting pieces that a 9 to 10 year old at this level might enjoy and that could also be used for the NCO audition?

Why not have a look at some of trinity's additional syllabus pieces as there are a wide variety of styles within those? My DD does trinity, so I don't have knowledge of how varied the ABRSM lists are but she normally picks from the additional material rather than the core book. She's using a G5 trinity for one of her NCO pieces (clarinet)

Thanks mini.

I will have a browse of the trinity syllabus and see what I can find.

Does any one know any great Violin performance music that's a good bridge from grade 5 to grade 6?

I'd like her to keep progressing but maybe it will be hard for her to polish two grade 6 level pieces by October.

I don't really know what the jump is between the grades. That said there is quite a lot of depth to most grade 5 level pieces.

As long as it's not the 3 she has just done which have now been played to death.

Hi, I'm not a violinist or violin parent, but we have loads of them on the monthly music thread, so why not pop over and join us? We're all friendly and helpful, and have lots of kids auditioning for NCO between us.

The jumps between the grades get bigger, generally speaking... but 5 to 6 is usually the biggest jump of all. Think GCSEs/ A Levels.

If you search around these sites you may find something - seems to cover various levels and genres:
