DD will be dancing at her first competition next month- what to expect?

Never been to one before- will it be like " Dance Moms"

officially I believe they aren't supposed to be swayed by costumes, especially tutus as some people simply can't afford the fancy costumes and don't have dance schools who loan them. however I think they do add to the overall "act" so no doubt do affect it even if unintentionally.

They are not necessarily swayed by costumes, my DD had a sparkly suit for her slow freestyle and got nowhere, we switched to a plain leotard with lace sleeves and she has done so much better moving up two categories. A lot of Champs wear plain black leotards.

There are good dance tutorials online. Have a look on this channel:

All the best.

My daughter just started ballet lessons at a local church for the first time. She loves it so far. They’re working on basic skills in the session and I think that it’s worth it. When she is older we plan on getting her into a sport of some sort like football or tennis in addition to a academic option such as French or music. Or drama so her twin brother can participate too.
