Brownie badge on hoodie placement

My daughter's brought home a 'well done' brownie badge. The whole pack were given one for a fun activity together. Any ideas where this should go, they use hoodies, not the sash?

Our brownies doesnt have set rules(unlike scouts) so most kids put them down the arms. Maybe wait til next week to see whats the norm at your pack?

Why don't they use the sash? I would get (and have ) the extra wide one and use that...
You sew all the badges on the hoody then they grow out of it (or like me your washing machine goes crazy and boil washes it!) then you are stuck unpicking badges and sewing them onto a new hoody (or in my case a sash)
From that experience I also learned that on a sash you can easily sew them on with a sewing machine (zigzag stitch) - no more pricked fingers trying to get a needle to go though (in some cases apparently impenetrable) badges...

I glue the badges on with badge glue. No sewing. Works perfectly and means you don't get the stitching showing in the underside of the sash

There is no official rule on where the badges should go, it is wherever the brownie likes.

Unlucky, if doing it by hand dont go through the whole badge, you'll drive yourself crazy, just pick up the threads edging the badge

Albus I did that but every so often I found you hit the badge and not the edge threads...and had the needle wrestle that made me jab my fingers - maybe it is my terrible hand sewing skills
I don't get the machine out to do the badges- just when I have the machine out I'll do them...I am now on DD2 and she had a sash from the start...

Also when DD1 went to guides they sewed their badges on a camp blanket - and supposedly had their brownie badges on there too so I just sewed the whole sash on...and you can easily pass/sell hoodies etc on...

I put my sash on my camp blanket too.

For my brownies I recommend buying the largest size gilet and putting them on there. We seem to do a lot of badges and some have half filled their wide sash since starting in September :S

technically the 'well done' badge is a fun badge and doesn't go on the uniform at all, but on the camp blanket or anywhere else you keep fun 'unearned' stuff.
However it sounds as if your pack is taking a less formal approach to badge placement so I'd have a look at what the others are doing and copy them. Thus your DD won't be at odds with the majority.

Thanks for your replies everyone. Apparently my DD's unit puts badges on the hoodie as the sash gets in the way of playing games and moving about. Sure most would disagree. My poor little DD is swamped in an enormous hoody as there was no way I was risking her out growing it and moving the badges.

'Badge glue' sounds a most exciting thing. Does this work on hoodies? It could become my most favourite household item, with 3 DDs.

I would put the badges on a camp blanket.

DD filled up her (extra wide) sash, and is half way to filling up her hoodie - she best not grow in the next year before Guides, else there'll be trouble no way I'm unpicking and resewing that lot :o

We've already got her a camp blanket for Guides, so far all her Rainbow badges and a few Brownie duplicates are on there.

The sashes are a total pain! They fall off constantly, and I'm always being given them by the girls to look after (brownie leader here). They're nice for parades or smart occasions but most of the time they're a nuisance!

Sew them on the jacket wherever you like, guiding nowadays isn't as strict as scouting or indeed as guiding used to be. Mostly my brownies have them down the arms but can also be the front and back!
