Music teacher - giving notice

I'm hoping one of you wise MNers can help. My daughter has been having flute lessons at school - her TA who teaches flute privately during the school day. She also has piano lessons on a Sat morning and her piano teacher can also teach flute.
We & DD2 would prefer for the piano teacher to teach her flute as well. She has capacity....but I am struggling with what to write in the letter to existing flute teacher. She's a petty type that would take offence as to the real reason (not heard great things about her technique, pushing children along the grades, getting quite stressed, cutting lessons short).
This flute teacher also runs a flute group at school & the orchestra. DD2 isn't fussed about the orchestra but would like to continue flute group.
Do I effectively lie and say she's having a break from flute lessons? Or do I state that we're moving her to her piano teacher as it makes sense to combine?

I'd tell the truth tbh.
Then if she denies your dd a place in the flute group kick off.

Is there a county group she could join, rather than school?

We've had this situation! Just say you can't afford the flute lessons for now. You will re-assess when your situation improved. Meanwhile if DD tells her about other lessons, you can say you have a discount there owing to 2 instruments. But that's later, for now, she won't really know the full picture. Do give proper notice though.

I would just say that you are going to source with flute lessons outside of school and so are giving notice on the school lessons.

No need to give any reason at all. If the TA is pushy enough to press your DD for a reason then I'd prime her to say something about not wanting to interrupt her school day for music lessons so doing them outside of school.

You could say in your letter that DD very much wants to continue orchestra and flute group so you hope that will be possible.

Thank you so much. I've been putting this off and as she charges 1/2 termly (in old language) and doesn't mention notice periods, I'm hoping that 6 weeks will suffice.
She's entered DD2 into Grade 2 so I need to be sensitive of this.
