DD failed her G5 theory.

We thought she would as it was a rush to get her up to speed and she only got 44% so didn't even nearly pass.
At the moment she's upset and says she won't sit it again and it proves she's a loser and useless. She has ASD and is going through a very difficult stage self confidence wise. ( She is 12 and in Y8).
We are trying to make a big thing about the fact she tried and that she can sit it again in June with more experience.
I wonder if anyone has any stories of their kids failing G5 the first time around but managing to pass it eventually?

My Dd failed grade 5 theory first time - we had also tried to rush it through as hoped not to be working on theory and 11+ at the same time. After that we changed tutor, passed theory a few months later with a high merit and then passed grade 7 violin with a very high distinction! Could a change of teacher be an option?

It was definitely us rushing it, not the teacher. We will try again and take it slower. She's being very positive about it.

So glad that she is feeling happier. Take loads of time (no need to take Grade 6 practical at all, or you could do another exam board in the meantime), lots of past papers, and give it another go when she feels ready.
