Initial pieces looks easy and nice ( Grade-2 kind) but not sure about other pieces, was searching on net for their grades but couldn't find. Anybody who knows about respective grades, please put your views.

My Dd's teacher asked us to buy this book and stated it is around grade 2-3 but I'm not sure if she means all the pieces or just the first few ones. I'll ask her tonight when I see her and let you know.

Thx Fleur. Has your DD started any pieces ?

Burgmuller ranges in difficult from grade 2 to grade 5. Easier ones are nos 1 and 2 which are around grade 2. No 3 Pastorale has been set for grade 3 exams, Ballade No 15 for grade 4, Retour No 23 for grade 5.

They are a fabulous set of studies which are also musical and fun to play.

Thanks "ShellingPeasAgain". So, does this mean that at one particular level/grade, we have just 2-3 pieces. I am looking for good studies similar in range to Grade 2-3. Can you please suggest some other.

Spoken to my Dd's teacher and indeed they start about grade 2-3 and vary in difficulty up to about grade 5.

DD didn't start any yet as she's working on some studies and approaching the next exam so probably will do so after the exam.

The studies my DD is working on at the moment are in the link below, there is a book for each grade and they are very nice

Graded Pianoforte Studies, First Series, Grade 3 (Graded Pianoforte Studies (ABRSM)) www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1854720651/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_viazwbX3Z0S9S
