Thanks for the support guys. It will get better I think. Hoping it's just a blip.

AlbusPercival · 25/04/2016 10:12

DC coming to give me my 10 year service this week, cant possibly be old enough for that!

Groovee · 25/04/2016 11:03

Congratulations!

I think I'm due a 5 year one later this year. Maybe that means I'll finally get my ALQ badge? Grin

AlbusPercival · 25/04/2016 12:58

Haha I only got my ALQ badge last year Rue so by that you have four years to go Grin

RueDeWakening · 25/04/2016 21:07

I made my test version of the pool noodle hobby horse tonight, Rainbows are making it in a couple of weeks time once the cool melt glue guns arrive am very chuffed with how it's turned out!

Need to email local store managers and see if we can beg some pool noodles for free, otherwise I'll have to order them from Decathlon - wonder what my postman will make of 20 arriving through the door? :o

That looks awesome Rue! You could use pipe insulation instead as it's pretty cheap( but not a very nice colour Sad)

Congratulations AP That is a massive achievement. Think of all the girls who have benefited from your 10 years - wow!

Has anyone actually set up gift aid? I know that you now have to have the updated gift aid forms for the parents and I've made all my older members fill this in as well as the newbies. I have a clear register and receipts for subs paid as of Jan when I became LiC. Prior to that I have the old style forms/a hodge podge of registers which are not consistently filled in/no consistent record of subs paid.

Should I just ignore the past 4 years and apply for gift aid as of this Jan or will they accept the mish mash of before?!! Oh, and all the older gift aid forms have been printed back to back with the starters form so I will have to Sharpie pen out all the data that shows!

lucysmam · 26/04/2016 13:04

I really want to do the horses Rue! That looks fab. Will have to look up cool melt glue guns, never knew they existed.

I bet that 10 years has flown Albus! I know it certainly doesn't seem like I've been at it almost 2 already.

Imfine, I'm just going from last half term - the LiC I'm taking over from can't find or has destroyed a lot of her records and the odd ones she has are too much of a jumble to make any sense of. Much easier (for me) to stick with my own system that I understand and could explain if needed.

RueDeWakening · 26/04/2016 13:50

Someone on the FB group said they still get very hot, so I'll have to check them - otherwise we can just use UHU or double sided tape for the eyes and mane. Won't be as secure but I don't suppose the girls will mind!

lucysmam · 26/04/2016 16:30

I meant to ask and forgot; how do you all word emails asking for donations? I have no idea what to write!

Have any of you ever applied for a Wilko Helping Hands grant? It's been three weeks since I took it to the store & haven't heard anything so wondering if it's not made it to where I wanted it to go or they're not going to donate or whatever but no idea how long these things take.

AlbusPercival · 26/04/2016 16:49

Haha yes it has a bit Lucys, but also not in others, was still in sixth from when I started so life has changed a bit in the meantime.

Still can't know what I am doing though, got told off by a new mum last week for not meeting the girls at the door and telling them what we are going to do. All 32 of them, individually? umm. Apparently I will understand when I am older and have kids of my own

lucysmam · 26/04/2016 16:57

Um, yeah...no. Not happening!

Imfinehowareyou · 26/04/2016 17:48

AP maybe you can suggest to that mum that she becomes the official greeter for you as it's so important Grin

Thanks lucysmam. Think I might just go from my records. I can't prove who did and didn't pay from before so don't want to get in any bother. The accounts have scarred me for life!

lucysmam · 26/04/2016 20:47

Haha, she could have been my door greeter tonight. We had an epic turn out of mums, dads, brothers, sisters and even grandparents for our 'show'! Our little room was crammed to bursting. The girls did so well & I was really surprised by how many came.

Only downside was that the leader I'm taking over from had said last week she might be away this week but would let me know & then hasn't turned up this week with no message or anything & one parent didn't turn up because my text didn't get to him Sad

My LQ book is done!!!!!!!! & we got to the bottom of who didn't pay last week too. Good night in all Grin

momb · 27/04/2016 10:03

Pool noodles in poundland at the moment. Much cheaper than decathlon!

Imfinehowareyou · 27/04/2016 13:40

Congratulations lucysmam FlowersWine

Groovee · 27/04/2016 15:29

Well done Lucysmam.

Doing part of the theory for Out and About and Finding you way badges this week. I'm exhausted having return to work on full days now my half days phased in returns are over.

Hoping it's an easy time otherwise.

AlbusPercival · 27/04/2016 19:13

Congrats lucysmam!

lucysmam · 27/04/2016 19:21

Unexpected email tonight from LiC - she's going to slip away quietly without a fuss made and leave us to it.

I'll make sure she gets the girls' card and little gift over the next week once I get the last few daffodils.

Looks like I'm properly in charge! Do I need to email DC just to let her know?

Imfinehowareyou · 27/04/2016 21:50

Wow - double congratulations lucysmam FlowersWineFlowersWine
Yes to emailing DC. Your LiC might not have told her and she really needs to know.

Feel frazzled after tonight's meeting. Think the activity really pushed them!! Plus they all turned up which never usually happens so had a full quota.

lucysmam · 27/04/2016 22:05

Good point about her maybe not letting our DC know...bet DC is sick of hearing from me with all my emails Grin

At least I keep in touch (very regularly) though!

rivierliedje · 27/04/2016 22:07

Congrats lucysmum! My record has just been updated to show i've finishen my LQ as Well. And all being Well, i'll have my camp license by the end of the week.
It's driving me doolally at the moment though. I stayed on at work for An extra there hours today to use the computer and the printer etc

RueDeWakening · 27/04/2016 22:14

Congrats rivier!

DAK what you should do if a unit is closing, or at least being put on hold? The sister Rainbow unit to mine (same meeting place, different day) will only have 3 Rainbows left come July, nobody on their waiting list, and one of the leaders wants to stop - she's just finished chemo, has been running it for 23 years, and has had enough.

I'm happy to take their remaining Rainbows and the other leader into my unit assuming they can make the day we meet on, but what happens re the stuff in their cupboard, bank account, flag etc?

The unit might reopen at some point in the future - our hall is due to be demolished and rebuilt over the next 2 years, it makes sense to revisit it when the hall is available again I think. Would this make a difference?

lucysmam · 27/04/2016 22:15

Exciting times ahead river!

Going Away license is next on my to do list - although not sure I can do it alongside Module 1 for Guides so must check that unless anyone here knows?
