Cost of a 1-1 Swim lesson

DS has been swimming for a year but not much progress and not much progress has been made in a group lesson.

I have been quoted 50 pounds an hour for a 1-1 swimming lesson at a community pool in London. I would like to know how much are others paying for a 1-1 swimming lesson ? Isn't 1 hour rather long for a 1-1 lesson?

We don't have 1:1 but it would cost 44 GBP per lesson (for 30 mins) at the swim school we use

We're not in London but we paid about £80 for 6 half hour sessions for DS. Did wonders for his confidence. An hour does seem quite a long time for a session though.

my son (7) has had extra 1-1 lessons with his swimming teacher (extra half hour after his regular group lesson) for the same reasons you have said - progressing but v slowly. They are at the local pool (Nexus) and we are charged £17 for the 1-1 half hour.

I'm in NI. We were quoted £20 per half hour for 1-1 in a private swimming pool, and two other companies who use the council pools were £15 per half hour.

Based on that £50 per hour in London seems about right, if not cheap. An hour does seem long when most lessons are 30 mins, but then, I do think 30 mins is too short sometimes. Especially in group sessions where one of the children is only getting one or two goes at doing a specific thing. Perhaps the idea of an hour long session is that it will take less time over all because there is time for practicing.

I'd agree that an hour is too long for a 1-2-1 lesson for a child - it's much more intense than a group lesson. Our swim school charged £18 for a 30 minute private lesson, which covered the cost of pool hire, staffing, insurance and admin.

Up until now it was £14/30 mins, from this week it was raised to £16/30 mins, South East
