Auditions started this week so a new thread for those whose DC are auditing and anyone else interested.

Dd was in the Under 10s this year, and reserve for the Training Orchestra the year before. Auditioning twice - this week and in Oct. unfortunately our accompanist had pulled out this week but DD is ok going solo. We aren't expecting a place this year as it is seems to get harder as you go into the older orchestras but the journey has been brilliant so far and DD wouldn't consider not having a go.

Anyone else?

Hello Waffle, what a wonderful news! All those worries~gone !

bopfactory · 07/12/2015 13:07

Both DD (10) and DS (8) got in (under 11s cello and Training Orchestra violin respectively). Really delighted for them both, as we only really put them in for auditions for the experience, and never expected either of them to get in! (both have only been learning for 2 years). Stressing slightly about the membership fees now!

Wafflenose · 07/12/2015 15:02

Well done to everyone who got happy letters today! I am over the moon. I thought she would hit the standard and get into regionals, but wasn't sure there would be room for her on the course. I hadn't thought about how we're going to fund it - surprised and pleased to have a second year! Oh well, we'll sort it out!

OrchestraTaxi · 07/12/2015 16:50

Well after her 3rd try, my DD(11) got an associate place. She was quite upset not to get a yes, but she also knows that flute is super competitive.

Wafflenose · 07/12/2015 18:13

Well done to her. As Mini says, "That is a yes!" - it means she hit the correct standard. I hope she enjoys her regional orchestra.

OrchestraTaxi · 07/12/2015 18:38

Thank you, yes that's what I told her but it always helps if someone other than mum says that :)

raspberryrippleicecream · 07/12/2015 19:21

Well done Miniwaffle. Lovely news.

Congratulations to all successful DC and commiserations to others, but also well done for having a go.

Pradaqueen · 07/12/2015 19:53

Congrats waffle and everyone with a yes! Hope to be in your camp next year!!

Eroica · 07/12/2015 23:36

I have only just found this thread, but my DD got into U10s. We had her letter on Saturday.
She is very, very pleased. (as are we)

Eroica · 07/12/2015 23:37

Sorry- she got in for clarinet, her 2nd instrument.
Not sure about the regionals thing- I didn't really understand the letter they sent- but they seem to be very far away, and not very regional!

stillwaitingfortheletter · 08/12/2015 13:12

Also just found this thread - ds auditioned back in October for U12s but we still haven't heard. The post has been today, so will be tomorrow at least Sad
Is anyone else still waiting?

Wafflenose · 08/12/2015 14:53

Yep, lots still waiting. Nobody at the school I work at has heard yet.

stillwaitingfortheletter · 08/12/2015 15:05

thanks waffle - that makes me feel slightly better!

Musicdoc · 08/12/2015 21:35

I have to confess that I was a bit frustrated today when I realised the post had come and still no letter... So I phoned the office Blush
They were able to confirm that DDs letter was posted on Thurs (it arrived Sat) and DS's was posted on Fri..,.

Feel better reading this to realise we are not the only ones still waiting - just hoping that they haven't forgotten to put a stamp on the envelope (which is what happened with the course info last year!)

stillwaitingfortheletter · 09/12/2015 13:37

Today's post has been... Still no letter

Wafflenose · 09/12/2015 13:45

Have you rung to check when it was sent? Someone on here a few years ago didn't get theirs until a few days before Christmas, because it had got lost in the post.

stillwaitingfortheletter · 09/12/2015 14:41

The info I had back in sept said all letters should be received by 11th, and to phone if not heard by then, so I was going to phone Friday.

Musicdoc · 09/12/2015 15:07

I'm still waiting too! And know someone who's waiting for an u12s is also still waiting.Hmm

Wafflenose · 09/12/2015 15:44

Some results at my school are starting to trickle in now, but I know of someone who hasn't heard about Under 13s yet.

BellaNigella · 09/12/2015 16:12

Happy news for DS today U12's Smile
Good luck all who are still waiting - the letters are coming!

stillwaitingfortheletter · 09/12/2015 18:05

Well done Bella's DS.

stillwaitingfortheletter · 10/12/2015 13:42

The letter has arrived, and it's a yes! Can't wait to tell DS - it's the first time he's auditioned, even though he's U12 age. Good luck to all those still waiting.

Wafflenose · 10/12/2015 14:00

How brilliant! I have been thinking about you all day, and hoping it turned up. News worth waiting for. Well done to your DS.

stillwaitingfortheletter · 10/12/2015 14:03

Thank you waffle Xmas Smile

Jubato · 10/12/2015 14:47

Just found this thread. Got our letter, DS has made it into training orchestra as a cellist. Phew!

He can't wait to be gone for a week. Shock

Do most people tend to do the regionals as well? Seems a bit of a trek!
