I am a bit shocked to find that dd's pre primary ballet is going to be £6.50 for a half an hour class.

Is this the going rate - £91 a term!

I feel lucky too that our class prices are so reasonable. The standard of teaching is marvellous with many past and present students RB, and other, associates, and on to vocational schools. And finalists featured most years in the national ballet competitions.

My DD does ballet in Hexham (well, Fourstones, but stone's throw from Hexham) for £3.50 a session, and it's lovely, couldn't recommend it enough. We go here

Thanks attheendoftheday, I will give them a ring for next term. They are closer along the A69 to me as well so that is handy.

Great! Maybe I'll see you there. Pm me if you need to know any details or anything I can help with.

With the competition for dance schools in the North East, the teacher must be pretty confident that she's worth the money! There's plenty of cheaper options if she's not, so I would guess she must be pretty decent. Have to love NE dance schools, some of the absolute best, especially around Newcastle and Hartlepool.

If it's Hexham then that makes sense, expensive area to live and rent (hall, studio etc) in. Baby ballet is £6.00 per hour in my area, andI don't think the teaching quality is great, but it doesn't seem to put some parents off.

Ours is 4.50 for tiny tots.
Its twice that for the older kids.

I was paying 145 a MONTH at one point because she was doing MT and Jazz too

My DDs dance school charges £4 for a 45 minute class for Primary ballet.
Majors are £5 for 1.5 hours.
I pay £156 a month for my DDs dance classes atm.

Ooh, I've never added it up, but just checked and my 6 year old's dance classes are approx £150 a month (she does two tap and one limbering in addition).

The hidden costs add up, in our own case; costumes, exam fees, competition fees, insurance (for gymnastics) etc

My older DC has dance associates costs, but doesn't do as much variety so is roughly the same cost overall (I won't talk about squad gymnastics costs!)
