...about DC's chosen activity.

I am (obviously) unbelievably proud of what DS has achieved, delighted he is competing in his new age group just after his birthday etc, etc.

But....I hate the fact that my whole house sticks of chlorine. I'm fed up of washing towels. DS's hair always feels slightly tacky from the pool.

I'll feel I'll from the heat and smell tomorrow. I'll sweat all day long and feel grubby.

There! I've said it- anyone else care for a slight whinge?

It looks like the things we can't admit to in real life are too difficult to admit to here as well. I deleted what I wrote, although it did feel good to come out and say it.

I'm sick of dd singing all the time. But she has grade 7 singing exam on Friday.
It will carry on though. All summer.
I expect when she goes to uni in Sept I will miss it.
Or not

DS plays in a group that often shares concerts with community choirs. I never ever want to hear another Thank You For the Music sung with wobbly voices in dodgy harmony. But I will, I will keep smiling and clapping too.

Oh I admit to it all

I could have flipping killed dd when my washing machine died due to her leaving hair grips in her pockets.

Her hair looks terrible with the gel she uses to keep her bum in.

Pointe shoe ribbons are hell to sew, my blood is literally in her latest ones.

And if she starts pirouetting one more time when I'm trying to do housework grrrr!

I can't stand the school summer production of musicals. I've heard the same harmonies for 6 years. But both my DC are in the band. Can I go with ear plugs and play games on my phone?

In order to get my DCs to practise, I have to locate the books which they have carelessly abandoned who-knows-where. Every bloody time. I have literally thousands of pieces of sheet music, so it's not always very easy.

Personally I'm sick of taking them to things. Particualrly in the summer months. If I talk to them they agree that there might be too much and yes... their siblings could cut an activity or two out to help, but actually did I know there's a new class starting in and could they please do that.

I agree about the dodgy music. Dd2's year 6 has chosen the same two who sang the main parts at Christmas again. One was flat the entire time and the other has a lovely voice but a tiny range, couldn't get above about a B, and didn't go below bottom D, she seemed to be able to get at Christmas, she squeaks or drones outside that, which I can't imagine is anything but uncomfortable for her.
When there's 150 other children, a fair number I know from out of school can sing, once can't help wondering why. There's one girls has a lovely voice and has only had a singing part once.

And if I ever hear any of the recorder tunes they do at almost every concert for the beginners it's too soon. The first is entirely on the note B, the second is entirely on the note G and the third is called "THE BAGA blues", which, guess what, plays the notes GABA several times in that order. They do play it nicely, no squeaks or anything. But surely one of those would be enough. I've heard them at the music concert once a term since dd1 started, so I've now heard them 21 times...

God yes, another ballet mum here.

On her last pair, dd wanted the bloch ribbons which have an elasticated bit to go round the back of the ankle. I nearly went mad positioning them with THREE variables - how far back, the angle of them and now getting the elastic bit in the right position

And another one - now dd has also taken up tap - the NOISE! And when she' trying to do it quietly on the kitchen floor that's even worse! At least ballet is silent
