Come on, you dark horses! What is your hidden talent?

Not sure where to post but considered Extra Curriculars as the most suitable place!

I said on another thread that I'd start a thread for MNers to share what their hidden talents are, so here it is!

Do you have a secret talent such that friends, colleagues etc, might not be aware you have?

E.g. someone at work is a trained burlesque dancer! But none of us knew until she told us when the general chit chat gave the opportunity for her to reveal it.

So my question is what skill do you have that none of your current acquaintances know you have???

I'm not at all mathematical but for some reason I can do sudoku. Even the really tricky ones.

I'm an ex competition standard rock climber though work do know about this due to the time I fell off a cliff and did myself some nasty injuries ;)

I play guitar but it's not exactly a hidden talent since I have no talent to speak of.

And I was once our French département (county) BMX racing champion in the veteran ladies category. But as you might imagine that this category is not exactly fiercely contested Grin.

I have a bronze medal from a Taekwondo national championships held in 2002. It's not as impressive as it sounds - anyone who belonged to a club could just roll up, and 90% of the participants were men. So there were only 5 women in my division (patterns) and I came 3rd. Not an actual talent.

I'm excellent at Scrabble though. None of my colleagues know that either.

I can do a passable Italian aria in a really uncool mezzo-soprano voice. I'm a terrible musician but a reasonable mimic and I think the sound just comes easily to me.

I won my category in a triathlon last year :) got a trophy and everything.

(Don't mention that the category was women over 50 and I was 50 so likely to do better than someone of 58... and there were only about 6 women over 50 in the tri...)

I am also a qualified football coach which I use with students (I teach secondary) as a "surprising fact about miss" - I don't really look likely and I no longer coach except summer school for littles.

Football has played and will continue to play a massive part in my life tho unless I stop seeing my husband and two sons Grin

I am also a fab baker, especially if we are after great taste rather than amazing presentation. Lots of people know that tho.

I can ride a racehorse, grow tomatoes and win prizes with them, fly a glider and do church flower arranging. Not sure if I will ever be asked to do them all at the same time though!

Oh yes clary, I forgot to say that I'm a good baker too and cake decorator but this isn't my vocation. I'm a pretty decent artist too including drawing caricatures, and I used to win all sorts of art and real life drawing competitions but I stopped doing this and I never received any actual professional guidance on this skill. I just sort of have a real flare for it. I should resume as it's something I like. I have no occasion to draw things and my line of work doesn't offer any opportunities to do so either.

And well done Clary for winning at the triathlon last year. You sound like quite the sportswoman. Olympics, here you come! Ha ha ha!

Thank you :) I seem to have discovered sport (if swimming and running count) in late middle age - was not at all sporty as a child/teenager!

Anyone who decorates cakes gets a hats off from me - I just don't think I have the patienece to produce some of the creations I see. From me you'll get a yummy cake but no sugarcraft sadly.

I can find anything family or friends have lost.
I am considering starting to charge for my services. Grin
