Thank you for that. I had the calendar out yesterday to demonstrate that it would be at least another week but I'd rather be wrong than waiting another week.

I will now ditch my plans for dinner in the expectation that it we will be having a celebration meal (which left to DS will be fish and chips with sneaky salt when he thinks I'm not looking).

I didn't see this earlier or get an email yet, but I have been checking online every day this week, and my pupil's grade 5 result has just popped up. I'm very pleased.

Oh gawd - was kinda hoping we might get Easter over first. Still dd got her G5 singing results yesterday which were fab so you never know!

needaholiday2015 · 01/04/2015 17:57

After a dodgy lead up to the exam and DD saying she didn't want to sit it and her teacher saying you just need to get 66 and thats a pass ! Well that's is what she went and got, 66 and a Pass !! Phew ........i was ready to book it again for next term ...

Same here needaholiday. Dd grumbled and complained her way through it all with me saying 'all you need to do is pass'. She got 66 and passed Grin

needaholiday2015 · 02/04/2015 12:15

Yayyyyy ISingSoprano my DD is so pleased to have passed and is very proud that she got 66 she is telling everybody :-)) Well done to your DD at least its done now, Is she working toward a grade 6 sometime soon ? ....

She probably won't do any more theory. She is going straight to Grade 8 singing now. She is nearly 17 and has been singing for years but wasn't interested in doing any grades. She started with a new singing teacher about a year ago and out of the blue dd announced she wanted to do some exams - she got both theory and practical grade 5 this week so the plan now is to go on to grade 8. Rather her than me!!

Is your dd planning on more?

needaholiday2015 · 02/04/2015 13:23

wow thats Brilliant and 2 lots of good news in one week :-)) I have the opposite problem with my DD she doesn't like to miss any grades, wants to do them all ! She is 11 and has passed her grade 5 violin and theory this term... Next term she has grade 4 singing and grade 5 Oboe, singing is ready Oboe needs work but i am hoping after 4 singing they might jump 5 now they can and go straight to 6 she has had a new teacher as well who seems keen to move her along .....I am presuming things get quite tricky when it comes towards GCSE time so it would be nice to get a few more out of the way before then :-)) ..Not sure she will do any more theory

She sounds really motivated - good for her. Does she sing in any choirs or play in any orchestras/ensembles?

needaholiday2015 · 02/04/2015 13:42

She sings in school choir as i cant find a local one that works with everything else, she plays in school orchestra on Oboe and NCO regionals on Oboe and does a saturday morning small orchestra on Violin and 1 sunday every month does the county orchestra on Violin, county has finished now though until September ......i wish i could find a choir but its hard to find the time as she also does netball and hockey !!

Wow - she is busy! Is there no county children's choir where you are?

SandStorm · 02/04/2015 14:29

Just found this thread - so pleased to have somewhere to be proud of DD - she passed her grade 5 theory (69%). She's currently 'all floating Mum' and can't stop smiling. This means she can now crack on with her grade 6 singing for the summer :)

ISingSoprano · 02/04/2015 15:06

Great news SandStorm there are a few of us with singing daughters here!

SandStorm · 02/04/2015 16:11

She plays the flute and piano too but singing is her forte. Started at 6 when we decided if she was going to sing constantly we'd do it properly and here we are 6 years later still going strong! So relieved we don't have to do the theory again though!

ISingSoprano · 02/04/2015 16:37

Oh yes - you and me certainly agree on the theory! Dd has been singing in choirs since she was about 9 and it has been her saviour through the secondary school years of friendship angst.
