Brownies Friend to Animals badge

Dd has been working on this badge and has now completed it. The question is, who checks her work and signs the book? I thought this was something Brown Owl did but she says the book has to be signed by someone.

I think a teacher at school might be ok but for some reason, dd doesn't want to ask!

I'm a Brown Owl. I allow parents to sign books when girls do badges at home.

Has she been helping to look after a neighbour's pet or something like that? Perhaps they could sign it.

I think that's what we did.

I'm a brown owl and for a badge like friend to animals, I would get the brownie to bring their work in and get one of the leaders to look through the work with them and check they have done everything they need to. For a badge like swimmer, musician or rider where they go to a club or have lessons, I get them to ask their instructor to sign the book. If it's appropriate I'd get her to ask a school teacher, but I'm not sure friend to animals is a badge that a teacher would do, that would be a badge like book lover or something more schooly.

If brown owl is saying to get someone to sign the book, I'd sign it yourself and send your dds work with her to brownies for it to be checked.

Thanks. She's also half way through the stargazer badge. I did think about asking the observatory staff to sign it when we visited but she hadn't completed all the sections yet.

Can I also sign that one myself as long as she's completed everything and send her in with her work?

Yes, you can sign it yourself. And as other poster says, take her work in for Brown Owl to see.

BramwellBrown · 04/11/2014 23:47

for stargazer, sign it saying you've been to the observatory etc and send her work in for the leader.

And well done to your daughter for (almost) doing two badges at home. I rarely manage to persuade any of my Brownies to do badges at home!
