Why don't I understand football boots? Please help!

So, bought DS football boots of right colour after much nagging. He claims he knows which sort of stud he needs etc. So far, so good. Boots were checked before match on Saturday and all OK. But we returned from said match minus 2 studs, and I haven't a clue what to do now! Popped along to Sports Direct as it was open late enough for me to get to, bought a pack of studs but they appear to be a different size. There was no other option though which is why I didn't check.

Does anyone know where I can get the right studs for his Nike boots? Google is failing me, which is why I'm wondering if I am looking for the right thing? Many thanks to all football savvy types - this is our first season!

Go back to Sports Direct and ask. Football & rugby boot studs look the same to this mum's eye but there is a difference in size. Staff usually just go straight to them.

My understanding is that you can play football with rugby studs in, as they are larger, but you can't play rugby with football studs in.

Thanks for the replies! SD were hopeless but fortunately the Saturday match was a late one so I could pop down to the local independent sports shop for advice. The problem lies in the fact that the boots come with non standard size studs so when you lose one you have to replace the whole lot with the regular ones. All done! I am sure there are many more challenges to come!
