Dance exams BBO v ISTD. Same/similar work covered in each grade?

Long back story, short version, we are looking at DD moving from the dance school she currently attends (BBO) to a new school that follows the ISTD syllabus.
DD is 13, and come Sept will be starting grade 6 in ballet and modern, and in her third term of grade 5 for tap. She also started pointe work at Easter.
Talking to a friend who's DDs attend the new school, I have the impression that ISTD exams are harder, and that DD should expect to move into a lower level class but would still be learning new stuff (if that makes sense)

I know nothing!
Would appreciate the thoughts of others, specially if you have experience of both boards.

BBO goes from Grades 1-8 whereas ISTD stops at Grade 6 so it may be the case. Both are recognised syllabi which sim to progress children in a structured way.

The new school should assess her current standard & what she has covered & place her accordingly.

My dd used to do RAD for ballet & ISTD for tap & modern but now she's at vocational school they don't do grades but she's working towards IF.

From what someone who studies BBO tells me there syllabus Grades from Grade 6 onwards are a simplified version of the vocational Grades whereas in ISTD & RAD they are completely separate syllabi

BBO is quite big in my local area for some reason but not quite as well known elsewhere.

Thanks for the information Pictures. I guess if there are more levels in BBO then it would make sense that less is covered in each level.

Tough decisions need to be made going forward.

Do what's best for your daughter. To be honest in my personal opinion the teacher/school is far more important than the syllabus.

The children at dds current school have various backgrounds including RAD, ISTD, BTDA & non syllabus Russian style.

DD has been at the current school for 10 years, and we've been really happy. But having "ishoos" with one of the teachers which is making things very difficult and I'm not sure that there is the will to resolve it.
