What keyboard for a 'seeing if she likes it' 5 year old?

I'm thinking about piano lessons for my dd (5 years old). She would do them at school, in a group of two or three children. But I have no idea if she will like it and practise, so I don't want to pay a lot for a keyboard.

On the other hand, the music teacher says a really cheap keyboard will make it harder, have the wrong feel etc. We don't really have anywhere to put a proper piano, and anyway I'd quite like her to have the option of playing and using headphones, especially if she gets really in to it.

Can anyone knowledgeable give me an idea of the sort of thing at would be cheapish, but good enough to give her a decent chance?

If it's piano rather than keyboard, then a digital piano with weighted keys is what you need. You could get a portable one that can be put away, on an X-shaped stand, if necessary.

For something of beginner standard with the minimum requirements of full-sized weighted keys, something like the Yamaha P-35 (used in a lot of schools) might be a decent cheap instrument; the Casio Privia series (PX-150) or Yamaha P-95 or P-105 if you can fork out a little more.

The P-35 comes in at around £300 to £350, the others are around £500-£600. It's much cheaper than even an upright piano, and you would be spending a good £90 on a keyboard anyway. But look for second hand instruments.
