Stagecoach audition - song, poem or reading

Hi
My daughters stagecoach is putting on a show in the summer term.
they have been asked to audition for the parts by either singing, reading a poem or reading a script
being new to this type of thing (and never auditioning for any part before) I have no idea what to suggest she does.

Can anyone offer any suitable songs , poems, scripts that she could use.

She is 9 years old.

Any suggestions gratefully received

Thanks

What is she most comfortable doing? Acting or singing?

I work for Stagecoach.

I suspect that the teachers will partly cast according to their knowledge of the children & how they work in class but sometimes they will do auditions like this because a. A child who has never volunteered for a solo etc in class might suddenly come out & surprise you & b. it's good to practise doing auditions anyway

If she chooses a song best to choose a song where she can also demonstrate her acting skills. Is she Stage 1 or Stage 2?

Popular songs for that age (& she can just do a verse & chorus!) are things like Castle on A Cloud, Disney, I Know It's Today from Shrek, Naughty or Quiet from Matilda, where is Love from Oliver.

For poem ideas look at the current LAMDA syllabus around Preparatory/Prelimibary/Entry Level

Monologues you could try Violet from Charlie & the Chololate factory, Alice in Wonderland. Snow White, Demon Headmaster, The Borrowers, Lion Witch & Wardrobe.
