Different books are suited to different ages. Suitcase kid - younger, but girls in love deals with sex.

Which titles OP?

I see... I hadn't realized that! What do you think for 'My Secret Diary' and 'Little Darlings' ?

Can't say I'm familiar. Mine grew out of Jaqueline Wilson in the 90s. Wikipedia might be useful though? Should outline the plots.

They can read them long before they can understand the content IMO. I don't like my dd reading them particularly, def have a flick through first before they read. I think there are much better books for the age group.

For example our irst encounter with JW - dd brought home dustbin baby from the library, I closed the book when we got to the bit about the mum getting pregnant in an alley. Can't remember the exact wording, but not what I want her reading (think she was 7 possibly 8)

She's written for pretty much all ages from early readers up to teens.
(And they often get wrongly shelved in libraries and bookshops, so you have to be careful.)

Her website here will tell you which age group each book is aimed at.

My dd has read carefully picked ones from being 6. She has sleepovers, 4 children and it, Lizzie zip mouth and a few others I can't remember. She's in year 3 now and the teacher is reading Hettie Feather to the class as it links to Victorians.
