Introducing paid after school clubs to a primary?

Does anyone have experience of setting up an after school club that requires parents to pay? Our school typically has avoided this to avoid unequal access between those families who have the cash and those that don't. Can anyone offer any advice around this subject?

Only as a parent, being offered them.
The letters just came out - this is what's being offered, this is how much it will cost, please return slip by xx date and this is what will happen if it's oversubscribed.

Our after school clubs are run by teachers and ta's. It cost £8 per child and you can attend 1 or all clubs for that price.
They are very popular!

We have paid for clubs at our school. I think we use some pupil premium money to ensure equality of opportunity.

Most schools have a mixture of both, the ones run by outside agencies are paid for, by teachers are free.

think its likely to be popular with parents who work, and therefore they can make a choice on value, I think free things are often supported sporadically and paying even a small contribution adds value, is there a way you could support some children unable to afford it to attend too?

Isn't that partly what pupil premium money can be used for though?

We pay for football club. £2.50 a week. Then we pay 50p a week for Funky Foods club. The clubs here run for 12 weeks.

we have a mixture too. DS2 goes to a paid art club - the teacher uses the money to get the special materials they use (not just stuff they use in school usually) She doesn't get paid for doing the club

Can pta funds not be used to help pay for those that wouldn't afford it. Or use pupil premium? This is what schools around here use. Don't the lottery still give out money for good causes? Also what about red nose and all those?
